Living on campus or off campus /What's best for me?

85% of all undergraduate students live on the University of Hartford Campus.  You are not required to live on the campus, but this option is strongly encouraged especially for first year students. Please click here to learn about on campus living for first year students.  Please click here to learn about on campus living for transfer students.

It will cost more to live on the University campus.  Please click here to view on campus living fees for 2008-2009.   It will be more convenient to get to your classes.  It will be much easier to meet other students and develop friendships with your American classmates. Living off campus will provide you with a quieter environment. It will also provide you with the opportunity to live in a bedroom by yourself. This will be very difficult to arrange if you plan to live on the University campus.  If you plan to share an apartment your living costs will be less than if you chose to live on campus.

Living off campus will require you to provide for your own transportation to and from campus.  We can assist you in recommending apartments that are located on the University's Shuttle bus line.  The city bus is available but does provide direct service to the University of Hartford.  It is very likely that you will be required to change buses in order to get to campus.

Living off campus will require more planning on your part.  We recommend
that you plan to arrive in Hartford a minimum of two weeks before the beginning
of classes to visit and select an apartment that is suitable to your budget. Please
remember to mention that you are a student at the University of Hartford. Some
