My Favorite Questions from Prospective Students:
What can I do for fun?
There are many options for students both on-campus and off-campus that are both fun and interesting. For on-campus activities, there are tons of clubs and organizations to join, from Stop Laughing Mom, our improv comedy club, to academic organizations and honor societies, to many community service organizations. Off campus, Hartford boasts many cultural activities, from the Wadsworth Atheneum (the oldest public art museum in the country), to the Bushnell Theater for concerts and plays, to the Hartford Civic Center for sporting events and concerts, and the New England Dodge Music Center for music concerts. Additionally, we are located roughly half way between Boston and New York City, a perfect distance for a day trip.
What can I do to enrich my college experience?
There are several different avenues that are very worthwhile for students; for example, our study abroad program includes over 50 countries to choose from. The University of Hartford also offers shorter trips led by our faculty. It's a great way to enrich your college experience. Also, internships are available to students during the school year, or students can choose to pursue internships over the summer with various businesses and organizations. Internships are a great way to gain valuable working experience before graduation, and can lead to possible job opportunities after your time here at the University of Hartford.

My Favorite Qualities of the University of Hartford:
Something I really like about the University of Hartford is the diversity of interests that our students and faculty have. For a school of our size, we offer so many programs and therefore we are well-known in several different areas of study. Also, we have students coming to the University of Hartford from many states and many countries, and these things make for some really interesting events and activities on campus for our students. It feels like a community, not just a campus.

Assistant Director of Admission & Student Financial Assistance

My Educational Background
B.A. Political Science, Boston College
J.D. Northeastern University School of Law
|
 |
My Territory & Responsibilities:
I review all New Jersey files, as well as all other states, excluding CT, PA, DE, VA, MD, DC, NY and New England. I also coordinate the www.hartford.edu on-line application and am responsible for the University’s merit based grants and scholarship ranking reports.
In addition, I am in charge of the admission process specifically for The Hartt School. I also serve as the liaison between the Admissions Office and Learning Plus, the University's support service for students with learning disabilities.
|
 |
My Favorite Questions from Prospective Students:
What is the application process for The Hartt School?
Hartt is the only college at the University that is not on rolling admission. All Hartt applicants must submit a University Application, a Hartt Supplemental Application, standardized test scores, an official high school transcript. Hartt applicants are required to do an audition and/or interview. Auditions/interviews are scheduled through submission of the Hartt Supplemental Application. After the auditions/interviews are completed, Hartt provides the Admission Office with the results, including performing arts scholarship amounts, and students are then reviewed with respect to their academics and a final decision is rendered.
Hartt offers a Quick Response to students who submit the University and Hartt Supplemental Applications by November 1, 2007. The $70 application fee will be waived if applications are submitted by November 1. Students submitting the Quick Response applications are required to audition at the University on December 1, 2007. By following the Quick Response deadlines and submitting all required documents, students will receive a decision in January 2008.
Auditions/interviews are also held in January and February 2008 for students who do not submit the Quick Response applications. Decisions of these auditions/interviews will be mailed by April 1, 2008.
For further information please visit http://harttweb.hartford.edu or contact Hartts Admission at 860-768-4465 or harttadm@hartford.edu.
Does the University of Hartford have any support service for students’ with learning disabilities?
Learning Plus is the University's main support service for students with learning disabilities. It is a voluntary program in which students and staff members work together to build stronger organizational skills. This, among other things, helps the student to become more independent, thus needing less and less help over time. There is no application process for Learning Plus. To gain access to these services, the student only has to submit current documentation of his/her disability and any services he/she has received. Learning Plus does not offer full content tutors, although peer tutors are available for most subjects to all students. Please note that this program is not comprehensive and will probably not meet the needs of students who need heavy support. Further inquiries can be addressed to Paula or Lynne Golden, the Director of Learning Plus at 860-768-4522.
What type of financial assistance does the University of Hartford offer?
The University of Hartford offers non-need based scholarships and grants (i.e., academic, artistic, musical or athletic) and need-based financial assistance.
All prospective applicants are automatically considered for non-need based academic scholarships and grants at the time of admission to the University. Eligibility is contingent upon the timeliness of the student’s application for admission and the availability of funds.
Prospective students who want to be considered for need-based financial aid must file an application and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the University’s priority deadline of February 1, 2007.
Further information regarding financial assistance please visit http://admission.hartford.edu/financing/.

 |
My Favorite Qualities of the University of Hartford:
Although the University is comprised of seven different schools and colleges, all students are required to take an All-University Curriculum, taught by professors from the various schools and colleges, which offers students an opportunity to examine problems from the perspective of several academic disciplines.

My Favorite Questions from Prospective Students:
The most commonly asked questions tend to center around the 'fit' of the University for each student.
Will I enjoy living on campus?
Will I have things to do outside of the classroom?
Are the class sizes appropriate for my learning style?
The answer to all these questions, in terms of a prospective student, is to come and visit us!! The best indicator of the 'fit' of a school in terms of you is to spend some time on the campus and see for yourself. At the University of Hartford, a prospective student may attend a Preview Day, come to campus for a tour and/or register for an Overnight, with the Overnight Program. Take some time and see yourself at the University of Hartford!

My Favorite Qualities of the University of Hartford:
My favorite quality of the University of Hartford is flexibility; from academics to housing and more. The University of Hartford offers 7 colleges within one University...something for everyone. As well, within the Residential Life program, students have many options to choose from regarding housing and the choices continue into the areas of extra-curriculars with over 60 clubs and organizations to join!!!
