The Federal Government has approved a retroactive change to interest rates for Direct Stafford Loans. Effective July 1, the subsidized and unsubsidized loans for undergraduates will carry a rate of 3.86%. Graduate students can expect a rate of 5.41% on the unsubsidized loan. Additionally, fees will increase from 1% to 1.051%. Fees on the PLUS will increase from 4% to 4.204%. Interest rates are tied to the 10 year T-Note. These rates and fees are set by Congress.
