2007-2008 ACADEMIC COSTS

DIRECT EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES

Direct educational expenses are charges which are assessed and billed by the Bursar's Office based on a student's enrollment and housing status. These charges, along with estimated indirect educational expenses, comprise a student's estimated total cost of attendance.

INDIRECT EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES

Indirect educational expenses are those costs associated with a student's education, which are not billed by the University. These costs are estimates only and are factored in when determining a student's estimated total cost of attendance. Because indirect educational expenses may vary from student to student, the estimates below are applied uniformly to the estimated total cost of attendance for all students. These expenses are factored into the financial need computation when determining a student's eligibility for Federal Title IV funds, and state administered grant or scholarship programs.

Annual Estimates
Books & Supplies Allowance
All students (based on 5 courses per semester @ $95 per course) $950
Travel/Transportation Allowance
All students living on-campus (based on 4 round trips within a 350 mile radius) $1,000
All students living off-campus (based on 135 miles/week for 30 weeks) $1,802
Less than full-time student transportation allowance is pro-rated.
Personal/Miscellaneous Expense Allowance
All students (includes: clothing, laundry and cleaning, personal hygiene and grooming, medical and recreation) $1,350

NOTE: For purposes of establishing a student's estimated total cost of attendance, each student's budget is built based on actual (direct) and estimated (indirect) costs. Students are eligible for financial aid, including loans, in addition to outside scholarships and other educational resources, not to exceed the budget.

Incoming Students: For purposes of establishing the estimated total cost of attendance, room and board figures for students living on-campus or off-campus are based on double occupancy in Dorms A-F and the Freshmen Exclusive Meal Plan. For an incoming student living with their parent or relative, the Freshman Exclusive Meal Plan is used for establishing the cost of attendance.

Returning Students: For purposes of establishing the estimated total cost of attendance, room and board figures for students living on-campus or off-campus are based on double occupancy in Village Apartments or Regents Park and the Premium Meal Plan. For a returning student living with their parent or relative, the Premium Meal Plan is used for establishing the cost of attendance.

The estimated indirect educational expenses comply with the cost of attendance provisions contained within the Higher Education Act as amended through 1998; Section 472.
