Academic Eligibility

Students who are receiving federal, state, or University financial aid need to remember:

  • You must be matriculated into an eligible certificate program or a degree-granting program and be enrolled in at least 12 credits per term.

  • While individual scholarship programs may require specific, above-average academic standards, all students receiving financial aid are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the schools or colleges in which they are enrolled and in accordance with federal regulations governing the Federal Title IV Programs and the Federal Family Education Loan Programs.

  • Students who are placed on academic probation, notified of removal from degree candidacy, not making satisfactory academic progress, or who are dismissed from the University are ineligible for financial assistance. Academic progress is assessed at the end of the spring term for the upcoming academic year for financial aid consideration. It is the student's responsibility to notify the Office of Admission and Student Financial Assistance when the student regains satisfactory academic progress.

Verification

Verification is the federal process which requires the comparison of data reported on the FAFSA with income tax returns and other requested documents. The results of the FAFSA (i.e., the Student Aid Report) will indicate if the application has been selected for verification. The Office of Student Financial Assistance will notify the student to submit the required verification documents. The verification process must be completed before financial aid can be applied to a student's account.
