West Hartford Center, located only a few miles from campus is a very popular destination for University of Hartford Students. Take the campus shuttle bus or park your car and you will find an easy and enjoyable walk through the center's marketplace which features over 140 trendy shops, cafes, and gourmet restaurants. You can also experience a variety of cultural and community activities throughout the entire year such as "Dancing Under the Stars" in early September or the annual Halloween Parade held at the end of October. You can count on West Hartford Center to have exciting and special events in every season of the year. Around the corner you will also find the West Farms Mall and Bishops Corner shopping areas where students can pick up necessities or go out for a casual day of shopping.
You will often find students who simply want to get away and relax outdoors at Elizabeth Park, only about one mile from campus. Elizabeth Park is well known for its beautiful gardens featuring colorful and fragrant roses, perennials and annuals. The park is a great place to go for a friendly picnic, a peaceful walk or run, to play some Frisbee or to simply catch some sun. You can even enjoy lunch at the park's Pond House Cafe.
If you are looking for a little more of that "city experience" you can find plenty to do in Downtown Hartford with a variety of concerts, clubs, and restaurants. Many events take place at the Connecticut Convention Center and Connecticut Expo Center. You will find performances by popular artists at the Dodge Music Center, popular Broadway productions and concerts at the Bushnell Theatre and Hartford Stage, and amazing exhibits and events at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. The City of Hartford also offers great opportunities for student internships, co-op experiences and job opportunities.
Finally, the University of Hartford's convenient location makes it quick and easy to get to surrounding areas such as Springfield, Boston, New York City, and Rhode Island. Whether by car, bus or train, you can take advantage of the opportunities, entertainment, and events that these popular areas have to offer.
