Tuition Assistance by Employer
Many employers in the Greater Hartford area offer some kind of tuition benefit. It is the student's responsibility to determine what is needed to qualify for the tuition benefit and to file all necessary paperwork.

The University of Hartford is a proud participant in the Post 9/11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon Program, established by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Scholarships
Institutional aid for part-time students is extremely limited.  The application period for the majority of external scholarships begins in January and runs through early April.  Information for these scholarships is usually available beginning in November through January or so, depending on the scholarship deadline.  It is recommended that you check this site periodically from mid fall through mid spring for scholarships that are accepting applications.

Simsbury Woman’s Club Scholarships

The Simsbury Woman’s Club offers one $2,000 scholarship and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Connecticut offers four $1000 scholarships to Connecticut women meeting the requirements below:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning, and
  • Applicants must have completed two or more years of undergraduate work (60 or more credits) and must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of future promise, financial need and scholastic ability. The deadline for receipt of all application materials is February 10, 2012.

The Women’s Opportunity Awards Program - $2000 Cash Award

This award is sponsored by Soroptimist International, an international women’s service organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls. Annually each local group awards cash financial assistance to a woman seeking to complete her education. The local Soroptimist group is seeking applicants for a local award of approximately $2,000, with the opportunity to win additional awards at the regional and national levels up to $10,000. The qualifications for the award are:
  • the woman must have primary financial responsibility for herself and her dependents
  • the woman must be attending an undergraduate or vocational skills program
  • the woman must demonstrate financial need
  • the woman must be a resident of one of the 19 countries serviced by the organization

Cash awards can be used for any expenses related to the woman’s education pursuits, including books, childcare or transportation.


The application process requires two steps.
  1. Step one is to submit a preliminary application. If all is in order, a more detailed application will be mailed to you for completion. Step two is to complete and submit the in–depth application.
