Lisie Heaton, who graduated from the Barney School this spring, has only been working at her new job for two months, but she already feels completely comfortable and confident. Heaton is an Account Analyst for Hartford-based CIGNA, a global leader in the insurance industry.
She credits the Barney School with her early success.
"I had great professors who taught me about all the newest products and technology in the insurance industry and gave me a great feel for the terminology that’s used in the business every day," Heaton says.
"They also showed me how to team with people who have very different skills and viewpoints than I do, and those experiences have been extremely valuable to me as well."
Even though she’s just starting her career, Heaton already has an eye on the horizon. "I hope to go back to the Barney School to get my MBA at some point in the near future," she says. "I am interested in directing my career toward the field of risk management, and the MBA would be a great help in achieving my career goals."
Heaton also wants to give back to the University. "I’ve got a great job and a bright future because of my Barney School education," she says. "I want to make sure that other deserving students have the same outstanding opportunities to succeed that I’ve had."
