U of H Student Wins Prestigious Architecture Award

University of Hartford graduate architecture student Dmitry Kulikov's diploma thesis project, "2 in 1," was recently selected as one of the seven winners for the prestigious Hunter Douglas Award in Architecture.

The winners of the award were announced at an award ceremony in the Grand Theatre in Shanghai, China. The Hunter Douglas Award is the highest award in the world-class architectural diploma projects' competition "Archiprix."

This year the jury reviewed submitted projects in Shanghai, China. The jury nominated 21 projects for an award. The final competition took place in Tongji University College of Architecture and Urban Planning in Shanghai.

As a finalist, Kulikov participated in a five-day workshop, whose theme was "New Urban Strategies in Shanghai." The award ceremony hosts were architects Patrick Schumacher from Zaha Hadid's office and Hani Rashid, who also were the guest speakers. Kulikov's travel to Shanghai was supported by Archiprix International and the University of Hartford's Domenica DiMatteo Scholarship program.
