Barney School of Business

The Barney School of Business, accredited by AACSB (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in the following areas: Accounting, Economics and Finance, Entrepreneurial Studies, Insurance and Finance, Management, and Marketing.

If you are seeking an education that will prepare you for a 21st-century, worldwide business career, the Barney School of Business is the place for you. At Barney, you will find a student-focused learning environment, dedicated to preparing men and women to be leaders and decision makers who are globally aware and socially responsible. Barney's well-credentialed faculty and staff are a rich blend of scholars, educators, advisors, and professionals who are dedicated to preparing students for their future leadership roles.

All Barney students take core business classes in accounting, economics, information technology, insurance, finance, management, marketing, and quantitative methods. By the third year, you will develop a major in one area of specialization, and have the option of minoring in another. The Barney School believes that in order to succeed in the business world, graduates must be broadly educated individuals with a strong liberal arts foundation.

As with all University of Hartford programs, the Barney School keeps class sizes small to ensure interaction between students and faculty as well as among students themselves. Classes are highly interactive, and use case materials and projects that provide hands-on learning. In addition, the Barney School fosters relationships with area businesses, government, and non-profit organizations. All students gain direct experience through an internship completed during their junior year.
