Cinema

Movies are a vital and powerful part of the contemporary world. The University of Hartford's
major in Cinema allows you to explore the culture of film in depth, studying films from
Cecil B. DeMille to Steven Spielberg, from Hollywood to European art films, in all genres.
You'll take courses in film criticism, film theory, lighting, film history, filmmaking and video production. Although filmmaking is not the focus of this program, cinema majors can experiment
with hands-on courses in film, television, and video production through collaborative courses
with the School of Communication and the Hartford Art School.
As a graduate of this program, you may find a career in the film and entertainment industry and the
media, or go on to graduate study. Whatever you choose, you'll give this program "two thumbs up."
