Economics

Capitalizing on the extensive resources of the University's Barney School of Business, the
College of Arts and Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts program in Economics. This program
will show you how economic systems and economic policies influence all aspects of society,
government, and the behavior of managers, consumers, and employees.
To master the principles of economics, you will take a variety of courses taught by the
distinguished faculty in the Department of Economics of the Barney School of Business. To
help you draw important connections between economics and other areas of study, you will
complement your economics courses with those in the liberal arts. Even if you decide not
to major in economics, you may want to consider adding this subject to your curriculum.
An understanding of the major economic issues and ideas facing us can be of tremendous
significance in almost any other area of study.
With a solid background in economics, you will be ready to move on to any number of
careers in business, public administration, law, the foreign service, and education.
