Philosophy

Learn to think clearly and reason carefully. Develop expertise in understanding significant
concepts. Debate modern-day business ethics and discuss universal human issues all in the
University of Hartford's Philosophy Department. The abilities to think clearly and critically,
reason effectively, and evaluate ethical issues are invaluable skills. As a major in Philosophy
at the University of Hartford, you will develop these skills through debate and discussion of
everything from universal human issues to modern business ethics.
There is an emphasis on the history of Philosophy, going back more than 2,500 years, to classical
Greece and Rome. You'll deal with the human condition in courses like God and Reason, or Mind and
Nature. These are balanced with modern issues, such as Biomedical Ethics and Organizational Ethics.
A degree in Philosophy can be a springboard to many careers in politics, government, and medicine,
or you may want to continue your studies in graduate school.
