Clinical Laboratory
Science/Medical Technology

Do you want to combine your interest in biology and chemistry with the ever-growing field of technology? Medical Technologists use sophisticated equipment to solve real-life health problems. They analyze information and use it to help diagnose, treat, and prevent illness. Personal interaction with patients is limited, but the impact these services have on a patient's well being is abundant.
The University of Hartford offers a Certificate in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology for students who already have a bachelor's degree.
The 12-month clinical year includes intensive experience in the field, in our own laboratories and at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford or St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. Didactic courses in clinical chemistry, body fluids and urinalysis, clinical immunology, hematology, clinical microbiology, and immunohematology are taken on campus. Successful completion of the program qualifies the student to take the Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification examination given by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification BOC).
The University's Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology Program is accredited by the
National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)
