Physical Therapy: B.S. Health Science and MS Degrees

Physical therapists work with patients whose physical limitations have in some way limited the quality of their lives. Whether it is an elderly person who is
recovering from surgery, or an athlete who has suffered an injury, physical therapists work directly with the patient to help them regain mobility, minimize
discomfort, and regain confidence. Physical therapy employs a variety of techniques, from massage, to ultrasound, to various forms of exercise.
The University offers a five-and-a-half-year program that combines a Bachelor of Science with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy (BS/MSPT). To be eligible,
students must complete an appropriate Bachelor of Science degree and the required prerequisite courses. Highly qualified students can enter the program as freshmen
and follow the Bachelor of Science in Health Science curriculum.
The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association accredits the University of Hartford's Physical
Therapy program.
"For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to help people. Physical therapy has provided me with an opportunity to accomplish this desire, both personally
and professionally. Although the program can be very intense, faculty and peers provide a constant means of support."
