Harford Art School

The Hartford Art School provides a professional education in the visual arts within the context of a comprehensive university that offers a
liberal arts experience for all of its students. Our graduates are artists and designers who are creative thinkers and have an understanding
of the visual arts in relation to other human endeavors.
Following the foundation year which introduces students to the fundamental processes and principles of artwork and design, you can
choose to study in the areas of ceramics, illustration, media arts, painting/drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture and visual
communication design.
The small size of the Hartford Art School as well as the close working relationship between students and faculty provides an
environment that nurtures creativity. Our faculties are artist-teachers still engaged in ongoing creative activity in exhibitions,
publications and research. Professional artists who serve as adjunct faculty help broaden student perspective on art.
