Introduction to traditional and contemporary music notation through the use of Finale. Course work includes the clear notation and copying of excerpts from the published literature as well as student-composed works. Simple, singleline melodies; chamber, choral, percussion, full orchestral, or band scores; as well as creation of MIDI demonstration recordings and extraction and preparation of parts are covered in depth. Extensive use of computer workstations by students.
